PURPOSE:To obtain a continuous contour line which is visually excellent by selecting the best segment element close to a certain segment element, finding picture element values between the certain segment element and selected segment, and connecting and interpolating a break part. CONSTITUTION:A predictive arithmetic part 14 is an arithmetic part which connects a broken segment by predictive arithmetic. In a segment element selecting process, the best nearby segment element is selected by being predicted from the broken segment constituting the contour extracted by an edge extraction part 9 by using, for example, a maximum entropy method (MEM). Then, the picture element values of the certain segment element and segment selected in the segment element selecting process are predicted in an interpolating process, the broken part is replaced with the picture element values, and the broken part is connected and interpolated. Consequently, the contour image which is visually excellent is obtained. |
