PURPOSE:To prevent a temperature rise of a heat generating substrate effectively by transmitting an energy which is generated by a heat generating element of a recording head and accumulated in said heat generating substrate to a member having a thermal capacity, and dissipating the same to a recording liquid flowing in a passage formed in said member. CONSTITUTION:A member 1 having a thermal capacity and in contact with a heat generating substrate 10 is rendered hollow. A flow passage 100 is defined by the hollow of the member 1 and the substrate 10. This flow passage 100 allows a tank 8 and a common liquid chamber 7 to communicate with each other via a flow passage 101 running from the tank 8 to the substrate 10. The flow passage 100 is orthogonal to a discharging direction of liquid drops and parallel to the heat generating substrate 10. The recording liquid is discharged while it absorbs the heat of the heat generating substrate 10. The higher is the recording density, the more the recording liquid is discharged, that is, the larger the flow rate becomes. Therefore, the cooling effect is increased. Even when recording is conducted with high density, a rapid rise in temperature of the heat generating substrate 10 becomes hard to occur. |
