PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer recording apparatus capable of recording a high grade image by providing a control means performing control so as to alter the driving quantity of a drive means when the driving quantity detected by a detection means reaches a predetermined value or less. CONSTITUTION:The number of steps of an ink sheet feeding motor 25 required in rotating an ink sheet supply roll 17 by a predetermined angle are calculated and, for example, when said number of steps reach 4035, 2918, 1575 or less, the number of steps driving the ink sheet feeding motor 25 are respectively altered, for example, from 6 to 5, from 5 to 4 and from 4 to 3 with respect to one line of recording paper 11 to suppress the variation in the feed quantity of an ink sheet 14 accompanied by a change of the diameter of an ink sheet take-up roll 18 and that of the ink sheet supply roll 17. By this method, since the feed quantity of the ink sheet 14 to the predetermined feed quantity of the recording paper can be controlled so as to become constant, recording can be always performed at uniform recording density and the ink sheet is used efficiently. |
