PURPOSE:To improve the durability of tread portion, lower the generating noise and increase the grip against ice/snow by providing a plurality of fine holes which are opened in the grounding condition of a rolling tire under load on the ground surface of the tread portion. CONSTITUTION:A pneumatic tire has a carcass 1, a belt 2, and a tread portion 3. A plurality of fine holes 5 are provided on at least a part of or the whole of the surface of the ground contacting face, i.e., the land portion of the tread portion 3. Each fine hole 5 is closed at ordinary times when no external force acts on the ground contacting face 4 while opening when the tire is rolling under load. Also, each fine hole 5 is set to a sufficient depth to take in a required quantity of thawed water within the limit of the depth of main grooves 6. Thereby, when a vehicle is traveling on ice/snow, each fine hole 5 takes in and removed thawed water from while making its opening edge bite the ice/snow. |
