Thin microporous mineral layers, with open porosity, deposited on a porous support and characterized in that they are comprised of at least two metal oxides selected so as to impart to said thin layers electric conduction properties; also disclosed are their preparation and their application to the separation, purification or characterization of chemical species by filtration combined with an electric current.
