Power converter including two differentials or two epicycloid gear trains, the cage of the first differential 10 (or gear train) receiving the mechanical power to be converted, delivered by a main motor 28 and the cage of the second differential 11 (or gear train) driving an output shaft receiving the converted power, the two differentials (or gear trains) having their planetary gears coupled together in pairs, the first group forming a demultiplication gear set of ratio M and the second group a demultiplication gear set of ratio N, the ratio M/N being different from 1, and M being greater than N, characterised in that the said converter receives additional drive movement applied with the aid of an auxiliary motor 32 which may be made to rotate forwards and backwards, the point of application and of monitoring this additional movement being the gear wheel 18 secured to the planetary gear shaft 14 of the first differential 10 (or gear train), the said wheel 18 being the first wheel or upstream wheel of the internal connection providing the demultiplication of ratio M and termed "speed flow" of the said converter, the action of the said auxiliary motor 32 making it possible to modify the speed and torque available as output on the cage 13 of the second differential 11 or gear train. <IMAGE>
