PURPOSE:To enhance the interchangeability with other propulsive machines by installing a propeller ahead a gear case which bears a propeller shaft, enhancing the propulsive efficiency, and locating shifting device for controlling regular and reverse rotation of the propeller in optimum position. CONSTITUTION:A gear case bullet part 22 to bear a propeller shaft 27 is formed in a gear case 21 of an outboard machine, and in this bullet part 22 a propeller 23 is installed in a place ahead the gear case 21. This gear case 21 is penetrated by a forward gear 31 and a reverse gear 32 rotatably approx. in the middle of the propeller shaft 27 in its longitudinal direction, and these gears 31, 32 are always meshed with a pinion gear 36 of a drive shaft 35. At the tip of a pivot shaft 39 coupled with a clutch rod 10 through a shift rod 38 a shift yoke 40 is coupled which acts so that the gears 31, 32 are selectively connected with the propeller shaft 27 through a shift dog 45. |
