<p>PURPOSE:To facilitate processing of cam faces in a clutch mechanism to be put in engagement when relative rotation is generated between a steering wheel side element and a steering gear side element, by forming a cam follower in said clutch mechanism from cam followers for leftwise and rightwise rotational transmission. CONSTITUTION:A boss part 3 installed at the top of a steering shaft 1 is formed by arranging a slide disc 8 between two discs 5, 7. To this slide disc 8 a steering wheel 2 is fixed. The slide disc and the disc 5 are supported with possibility of relative rotation with the aid of a coil spring 10 accommodated in a long hole, and the lower disc 5 is rotated through a clutch mechanism 14 by a motor 34 on the basis of output from a torque sensing mechanism 19 to sense this amount of relative rotation. The clutch mechanism 14 consists of a cam face 15 and a cam follower (roller) 16, which is made in the form of one set of rollers 16a, 16b for leftwise and rightwise rotational transmission for each cam face 15.</p> |
