MAXILLOR-FACIAL PROSTHETIC APPLIANCE AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To provide the above appliance which is soft and has the enhanced adaptability to a missing part and to maintain the comfortability at the time of wearing by weight reduction by using an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer, forming a hollow body of a prescribed shape by press molding of this copolymer and curing and joining a maxillo-facial prosthetic material to a part or the entire part of this hollow body. CONSTITUTION:A previously produced gypsum pattern is fixed to the center of the flask of a press machine and thereafter, the ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer is molded under heating to press weld and mold a top dorsal part 20 and a base plate part 22 of a maxillary dental prosthesis. A plug closing plate 24 and base plate part 22 consisting of the ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer are formed by putting the base side of the top dorsal part 20 to the base plate part 22 which is previously molded to an over size and by properly softening the bond part 26. The hollow body is produced by transient welding with a spatula and hermetical closing. The tendon side of the base plate part 22 is removed and the paste-like methacrylate resin is loaded into a gypsum mold. The molding is subjected to trial pressing and fastening with nuts and is cured by microwave irradiation for 3 minutes in a microwave oven.
