PURPOSE:To stabilize quality of beta-alumina tube and to increase durability of a container by covering the beta-alumina tube from the outside with a container made of MgO having a specified purity in close vicinity to the beta-alumina tube, then baking them. CONSTITUTION:A beta-alumina tube 10 is covered from the outside with a container 11 made of MgO having a purity of 90% or more in close vicinity to the beta-alumina tube, then they are baked. The MgO container 11 is made of MgO crystals having a particle size of 1-20mum and a mean particle size of 10mum or less. The shape of MgO container is a cylinder with bottom same as the beta-alumina tube, or a cylinder with bottom having polygon cross section, or a both ends opened cylinder with a cover. Baking is conducted with an electric furnace controlled at about 1550-1650 deg.C for about 0.5-1 hour. |
