<p>PURPOSE:To improve the work efficiency of a recording operation in the neighborhood of the termination of a tape by respectively providing termination identification parts for a traveling directional termination position and another position separated from the above-mentioned termination position for a prescribed distance in an upstream direction. CONSTITUTION:Data is recorded in a magnetic tape 3, a detector 7 detects a termination part 22, and a control circuit 8 records dummy data through a signal processing circuit 12 into recording areas 25a and 25b. After this, data remaining in a buffer memory 11 are recorded in a second recording area 24. Data accordant with the instruction of a host computer is also recorded, all the remaining data in the memory 11 is recorded before a first termination part 21 appears, and no wasteful operation is executed. When the termination of the magnetic tape 3 approaches the terminal at reading out time, the detector 7 detects the second termination part 22, the dummy data in the areas 25a and 25b are ignored, and the data in the following second recording area 24 is sent to a computer 2. Since the neighborhood of the termination of the tape can be detected in an early stage, the work efficiency of the recording operation in the neighborhood of the termination of the tape can be improved.</p> |
