PURPOSE: To properly determine a working height of the surface of a workpiece for a minimum height surface during working by determining a constant relating a resistance value of an analog resistance sensor to the height of an analog sensor before working. CONSTITUTION: By utilizing an electronic working (lapping) guide 10 having an analog resistance sensor Rp in which a workpiece is parallel to a working surface and close surface and remote surface for the working surface are provided and a discrete resistance sensor Rb having a plurality of contact points to be broken as each calibration event during working, a working height of the surface of the workpiece for a minimum height surface is determined during working and the surface of the workpiece is worked up to a certain height above the minimum height surface. At this time, a constant K relating a resistance value of the analog resistance sensor Rp in this guide to a known height (h) of the analog resistance sensor Rp is determined before working. By taking this constant K into consideration, a present working height Z for the location of the minimum height surface is determined. |
