PURPOSE:To enhance recording sensitivity and make it possible to record clear images with a high color density by providing an image receiving layer by use of a coating liquid comprising a dyeable resin, colloidal silica and an alcohol-modified silicone oil. CONSTITUTION:A coating material for forming an image-receiving layer is prepared by mixing 300 parts of a water-soluble dyeable resin, e.g., polyester or polyurethane, 3.4 parts of an alcohol-modified silicone oil and 17 parts of colloidal silica, agitating the mixture sufficiently, and finally adding water to the mixture to obtain a concentration of 30%. The coating liquid is applied to a paper material obtained by coating a commercial art paper with an SBR latex and drying the latex, and the coating liquid is dried to provide the image- receiving layer. The sheet material thus obtained is subjected to a smoothening treatment by a supercalender comprising a specular-finished metallic roll and an elastic roll, thereby producing an image-receiving sheet for thermal transfer recording. |
