PURPOSE:To obtain a 2-eye type stereoscopic picture television set with high picture quality and excellent transmission efficiency by providing a means reducing false contour in the depth with respect to a 2-eye stereoscopic picture. CONSTITUTION:A digital signal 30 being a picture signal + depth signal is inputted to a separator 31, in which the signal 30 is separated into a depth signal 32 and a picture signal 33 and inputted to a variable delay device 36. On the other hand, the picture signal 33 is also given to a fixed delay device 37 to compensate the fixed delay component in the variable delay device 36 and an interpolation filter 34. A picture signal outputted from the variable delay 36 is given to the interpolation filter 34, in which the depth corresponding to the both eyes parallax of one picture element is decreased by increasing the number of picture elements. Thus, the depth signal separation type stereoscopic television set with high picture quality and reducing false contour in the depth is obtained. |
