PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer recording material generating no printing omission and having high accuracy by adding an antistatic agent to a thermal transfer sheet and coating the surface of a thermal head with the antistatic agent. CONSTITUTION:An antistatic agent is contained in the heat-resistant slip layer brought into contact with a thermal head of a thermal transfer sheet in a state transferable to the contact surface with the thermal sheet of the thermal head. In order to obtain this state, microcapsules having an antistatic agent enclosed therein and/or particles of a heat-meltable substance having the antistatic agent mixed therewith are contained in the heat-resistant slip layer or a means for applying the antistatic agent to the surface provided with the heat-resistant slip layer of the thermal transfer sheet may be provided between the feed roll of the thermal transfer sheet and the thermal head. By this method, since the frictional charge generated between the thermal head and the thermal transfer sheet can be prevented almost perfectly and the generation of printing omission can be prevented.
