The apparatus includes a compact prover (2) including an outer cylinder (2a) for making fluid pressure constant in and out of a inner cylinder (2b) for measuring pressure of liquid which passes through flowmeter, two oval by-pass prts (7) disposed at each end of side walls of the inner tube (2b) for stabilizing the movement of a piston (3) against the rapid change of liquid pressure, a cylinder (9) for pressing the piston over the lower by-pass port, and a cylinder (17) having measuring switches (4,5) driven by air pressure for return stroke of the piston.
