PURPOSE:To improve flame resistance and strength by adding a crosslinking agent to a polymer mixture of polyethylene and ethylene-alpha-olefine copolymer with tetrafluoroethylene-propylene copolymer graft-reacted with styrene or acrylic acid ester, forming a coating of the resulting mixture, and crosslinking the coating. CONSTITUTION:At least one of polyethylene, ethylene-alpha-olefine copolymer, ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, and ethylene-acrylic acid ester copolymer is obtained. A composition containing >=0.5 parts in wt. of crosslinking agent per 100 parts in wt. of a mixture of said polymer with tetrafluoroethylene- propylene copolymer graft-reacted with styrene and acrylic acid ester in 5-60wt.% is extruded and applied on a conductor and then crosslinked. By this method, an insulating cable having a polyolefine-based copolymer coating with excellent flame resistance and strength is obtained. |
