<p>PURPOSE:To efficiently remove SO2 from SO2 contg. waste gas with a regenerable gamma-alumina adsorbent by bringing the exhaust gas into contact with the adsorbent at a constant temp. under atmospheric pressure to adsorb the SO2 and by desorbing the adsorbed SO2. CONSTITUTION:SO2 contg. waste gas generated by combustion or from a sulfuric acid plant under a pressure close to atmospheric pressure is introduced at 130-600 deg.C into an adsorption tower 5A packed with gamma-alumina 6B as an adsorbent to adsorb the SO2. Since an adsorption tower 5B has been packed with an adsorbent satd. with adsorbed SO2, a vacuum pump 7 is worked to reduce the internal pressure of the tower 5B to 0.05-0.3ata. The adsorbed SO2 is desorbed, the adsorbent is regenerated and concd. SO2 contg. gas is obtd. Thus, desulfurization is carried out with a small-sized apparatus without breaking the crystals of the adsorbent.</p> |
