摘要 PURPOSE: To easily control a suspension system by a computer and to reduce the weight of the system by composing the suspension system so as to have the vertical movement of a wheel with respect to the chassis controlled by the differential motion of an electric motor built in the suspension unit. CONSTITUTION: This suspension unit 12 intervened between a chassis and an oscillating arm journalling a wheel to the free end side includes a lower casing 28 provided with a gap 32 into which a ball screw 26 is to be inserted and the ball screw 26 is engaged with a ball nut 34 provided on the upper part of the lower casing 28 through a plurality of balls 36 circulating inside circulating passages 38, 40. The ball screw 26 is rigidly fixed to the armature 42 of an electric motor 52 and the suspension unit 12 is expanded and contracted by the rotation thereof. Load holding power generated by the motor 52 is sensed by a motor load cell 54 and the rotating position of the armature 42 is detected by an optical encoder 46.
