PURPOSE:To accurately reduce processing time and circuit scale by providing a means to obtain the deviation correlation value of a picture signal for either the whole of a screen or the part of the screen, a means to detect the optimum point of the correlation value, and a moving vector calculating means. CONSTITUTION:A two-dimensional LPF 9 suppresses the horizontal and vertical directional high frequency components of the inputted picture signal, and a centroid point memory 2 stores the centroid point signal of an input picture element. When the next signal is inputted, a subtracter 3 obtains the horizontal (i) and vertical (j) directional deviation difference DELTAL (i,j) between the preceding centroid point and a current centroid point. A converter 4 converts the DELTAL (i,j) into ¦DELTAL¦(i,j), and a cumulative adder 5 cumulatively adds this for each deviation (i,j) and obtains a correlation SIGMA¦DELTAL¦(i,j). A minimum point detecting circuit 6 detects a deviation (i',j') to provide the minimum value of the correlation value and outputs this, the minimum value, and the values of points adjoining to the minimum point in horizontal and vertical directions to a moving vector calculating circuit 8. The circuit 8 calculates a moving vector (i'',j'') with expressions I, II, and III based on the above-mentioned values. |
