PURPOSE:To prevent an internal resistance of a sealed lead-acid battery from being increased by providing an internal wall portion inside a side wall portion of a battery jar located in both sides of the direction in which a group of electrode plates are laminated, the internal wall portion being deformed in the direction to press the group of electrode plates in accordance with the state that the inside battery jar is decompressed. CONSTITUTION:An internal wall portion 6 is deformed in the direction to press a group of electrode plates 2 due to decrease of the pressure inside a chamber 9 with decrease of electrolyte. A space 10 formed among inside wall portions 1a and 1b and the internal wall portion 6 is kept in atmospheric pressure by a through hole 7. Thus, the internal wall portion 6 is easily deformed in the direction to press the group of electrode plates 2 in accordance with the state that the inside chamber 9 is decompressed in spite of its decompression state. Therefore, even if thickness of an isolation member 4 becomes thinner to cause thickness of entire group of electrode plates becoming thinner due to decrease of the electrolyte, the group of electrode plates is continuously applied with pressure due to deformation of the internal wall portion 6. Further, contact among the electrodes 3 and 5 and isolation member 4 can be kept tight. Therefore, an internal resistance of the battery is prevented from being increased to extend lifetime of the battery. |
