PURPOSE: To realize a novel reverse exciting coil for starting and keeping a plasma arc discharge by mutually connecting the farthest end part of two coils wound in the same direction is hand drum shape with an arc tube between, and supplying an excitation signal to the adjacent end parts. CONSTITUTION: An exciting coil has coil parts 10-1 a and 10-2 wound is first and second solenoid forms, the axis of each part substantially coincides with each other, and the conductor is arranged so that the apex is situated within an are tube 11 or on a virtual conical surface situated within the other coil part exceeding it. Both the coils have conductors wound in the same direction, when seen from the axial direction, and the farthest end parts are mutually connected. An excitation signal is supplied to the adjacent end parts 10a, 10b to form a glow discharge within the arc tube, and a high electric field for helping the start of a plasma arc discharge 12 is fomred. The respective magnetic field are regularly combined in the same phase within the capacity of containing the arc tube 11 to keep the arc discharge. |
