4-Pyridone derivatives of the formula …… in which… R1 denotes methylamino, 4-fluorophenyl or 2,4-difluorophenyl, R2 denotes hydrogen or a sulphur atom which is bonded to the ring nitrogen via an ethylene bridge, X denotes hydrogen or a physiologically acceptable ester group and Y denotes a base of the formula IIa or IIb of the formula sheet, in which R3 represents hydrogen, lower alkyl, benzyl, formyl, acetonyl or a radical of the formula III of the formula sheet, and addition salts of compounds of the formula I with pharmaceutically acceptable inorganic or organic acids or bases and/or their hydrates, are used as agents having antibacterial activity.
