A preservative compsn. comprises an emulsion of a wood preservative grade creosote, 5-95% water and a pre-dispersed micronized pigment. The compsn. contains 2.5 wt.% rheology structuring agent, 0.25-10 wt.% alkali metal of wood-derived resin, 0.1-5 wt.% surfactant, 0.25- 5 wt.% ligninsulphonate and 1.25-2 wt.% pigment modifying resin based on the total wt. of the emulsion. The compsn. is ultra-stable in the presence of wood extractives and has a strong buffering capacity. |
