The invention concerns a method which makes it possible to reduce considerably the work involved in shaping a ceramic or glass tooth prosthesis element. The prosthesis element 1 is made at least partially by means of a preform 4 which is prefabricated by moulding and which comprises at least one surface of a tooth, preferably an occlusal surface 5. The rest 10 of the element can, if need be, be formed in a conventional manner on a stump 2 or on a moulding of the latter, and the prosthesis element 1 is then withdrawn in order to be baked. <IMAGE>
