The invention relates to a thermoplastic monofilament composed of two parts, in particular in the form of a helix as a tube insert, and to a production process. To achieve a reduction in scrap, it is proposed that the filaments butt with their ends against one another, that the parts are covered in the region of the butt joint by a sleeve of a material of the same softening temperature and that an unreleasable bond is created by melting at least partial regions of the materials.
