An air-conditioning system for a vehicle which is preferably air cooled has a housing with a vaporiser, a chamber and at least one blower. The blower is connected to a passenger compartment via output ducts with de-icing vents, central vents and foot well vents which can be shut off individually. The housing is supplied with warm air via a warm-air duct with an exhaust gas heat exchanger, with fresh air via an inflow duct with a fresh air flap which is controlled by an electric motor and with air from the passenger compartment of the vehicle via an inflow duct for ambient air, warm air and/or fresh air and/or ambient air being fed to a blower via a temperature mixing flap, being swirled therein and mixed and subsequently fed to the passenger compartment via the individual outlet ducts. In order to avoid fluctuations in the flow rate of air, the fresh air flap is controlled as a function of the driving speed of the motor vehicle, the position of the temperature mixing flap, a blower rpm stage of the blower and of a switched state of a solenoid coupling of a coolant compressor.
