The invention relates to a method for controlling the running of the strip during the rolling, in particular the finish-rolling, of the luminous hot strip 1 in at least one roll stand 2. By means of a single diode line camera 7, the position of the strip 1 is determined in such a way that for the measuring line, which runs transversely to the strip-running direction and extends beyond the strip edges, a common reference point is fixed. From the comparison of the distances of the strip edges from this common reference point, the position of the strip 1 is corrected by adjusting the roll gap of the roll stand 2 which is arranged upstream of the measuring line. <IMAGE>
