<p>A magnetic recording medium consists of a non-magnetic substrate, e.g. of Al alloy, on which an underlayer is formed of Ni alloy containing 0.05-10 at% W and 14-30 at% P, with a magnetic medium on top. A protective film may be formed on the magnetic medium layer. The underlayer may also contain at least one element from the group Cu, Zn, Ag, Au, Pd, Rh, Mn, Mo, Re, Cr, V, Ti and B. Thickness of the underlayer is 5-200, pref. 10-100 mm. It has an amorphous structure and can be produced by any appropriate plating process. High magnetising temperature with excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance.</p> |
