In a roller chain for bicycles with dérailleur, the pins (4) are retained in oval or oblong inner holes (6) located in bushings (3) mounted on the inner plates (1). The outer surfaces of the bushings which carry the rollers may consist of either four 90 DEG or three 120 DEG cylindrical surface segments (3f, 3g, 3h). The middle layer of inner plates (1) is maintained in position by the curved or bent edges of the outer plates. The form-fitting arrangement of the pins (4) in the bushings (3) and the form-fitting arrangement of the rollers (5) on the cylindrical surface segments result in low pivotal pressure and high lateral flexibility but nevertheless high resistance to torsion, which are particularly advantageous features in chains for racing cycles. |
