A pyridylketoxime ether compound of the formula: <CHEM> wherein Ar is a phenyl, naphthyl or heterocyclic group unsubstituted or substituted by a C1-C8 alkyl group, a C1-C8 alkylamino group, a C1-C8 alkoxy group, a C1-C8 alkoxycarbonyl group, a trifluoromethyl group, a nitro group or a halogen atom, X is a -(CH2)m- group wherein m is an integer of from 1 to 5, a -(CH2)m-Y- group wherein Y is an oxygen or sulfur atom and m is as defined above, or a -CH2-(CH=CH)n- group wherein n is an integer of 1 or 2, and R is a phenyl, naphthyl, C3-C8 cycloalkyl or heterocyclic group unsubstituted or substituted by a C1-C8 alkyl group, a C1-C8 alkylamino group, a C1-C8 alkoxy group, a C1-C8 alkoxycarbonyl group, a trifluoromethyl group, a nitro group or a halogen atom, or a salt thereof.
