<p>A solid-state camera includes a loading detecting unit (26) for detecting loading of a detachable solid-state memory apparatus, a checking unit for checking the loaded solid-state memory apparatus, and a control unit for performing control of each section which includes predetermined display control (32) in accordance with a check result of the checking unit. Conveniently the detachable memory apparatus may be adapted to provide identification information in either stored or mechanical form to facilitate interchange of different types of memory.</p>
