<p>NEW MATERIAL:The amino acid derivative expressed by formula I [R1 and R<3> are same or different H or carboxyl-protecting group; R<2> is ethyl, isopropyl or CH3CR<4>(OR<5>)-(R<4> is H or methyl; R<5> is hydroxy-protecting group)] and having (R)-configuration at the 5-site. EXAMPLE:5R-5-(1'-t-butoxycarbonyl)propyl-2-methoxycartbonyl-1,2-dehydr oproline. USE:A production intermediate for pharmaceuticals, e.g., a carbapenem useful as a beta-lactam antibiotic substance having excellent antibacterial activity. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be produced e.g., by oxidizing an amino acid derivative of formula II having 5-site exhibiting (R)-configuration. The starting compound of formula II is synthesized by using L-proline or L- pyroglutamic acid as a raw material.</p> |
