PURPOSE:To eliminate defective welding due to working shortage of the finished end faces of strips by mounting a shaping device to remove burrs, etc., of the finished end faces generated at the time of finish-working by a finishing device on a carriage. CONSTITUTION:An inlet side clamping device 8 and an outlet side clamping device 5 are located on the line center and a rotary shearing device 27, a cutting device 32, the shaping device 35 and welding equipment 16 are on standby at the prescribed positions. In such a state, when a preceding strip 6a and a succeeding strip 6b come to the prescribed positions, the inlet side clamping device 8 and the outlet side clamping device 5 operate and clamp the preceding strip 6a and the succeeding strip 6b, respectively. Afterward, the rotary shearing device 27 travels in the crossing direction to the line and cuts the ends of both strips 6a and 6b. During this cutting stage, the cutting device 32 operates and finishes the cut end faces with prescribed accuracy. During this finish-working, the rear shaping device 35 proceeds while removing the burrs or whiskers generated by the cutting device 32. Afterward, the ends of both strips are welded by a laser beam from the welding equipment 16. |
