A SECURITY SYSTEM FOR A MOTOR VEHICLE

A security system for immobilizing electrical apparatus e.g. the electrical circuits of a motor vehicle. A signal generating unit 1 produces a coded electrical signal which is applied to a control unit 2. The insertion of a unique electronically coded card 3 in a slot 4 in the control unit causes it to respond and energise the ignition circuit 6 and liquid crystal displays 10 of the vehicle registration number on the front and rear number plates 7 and 8. The security system can be applied to other electrical apparatus such as a television set, a video recorder, a hi-fi system or a music centre.
