A mould, especially for use in research activity in the field of plastics technology and rubber technology, comprises a mould piece containing a mould cavity 10 and a supply duct system 13 connected thereto for conducting the casting material into the mould cavity. At least part of the mould piece comprises translucent material 2, 6, which is bounded by at least part of the side walls of the supply duct system 13 and/or of the extraction duct system 12 and/or by the inner face of the mould cavity 10 in such a way that the filling or behaviour of the supply duct system 13 and/or the extraction duct system and/or the filling of the mould cavity 10 can be viewed from outside the mould during casting. The transparent material forms part of a piece 2, 6 which is placed in contact with the supply duct system 13 and/or the extraction duct system 12 and/or the mould cavity 10, the piece being able to be placed in contact with the said parts 10, 13, 12 in such a way that its surface forms a wall of the supply duct system 13 and/or the extraction duct system 12 and/or the mould cavity 10. <IMAGE>
