PURPOSE:To allow the remaining amount of ink sheet to be detected by providing a device to detect the remaining amount of ink sheet based on the supplied amount of ink sheet. CONSTITUTION:Ink sheet 14 is supplied from an ink sheet supply roll 17, and wound around a winding roll 18. The winding roll 18 is driven with a motor for ink sheet transport 25. The supply roll 17 and an encoding plate 61 rotate in an arrow direction due to the rotary drive of the winding roll 18 in an arrow direction. The motor for ink sheet transport 25 is driven by rotation by a specified number of steps because the motor for ink sheet drive 25 supports and drives the winding roll 18. However, if this rotary drive takes place, the rotary angle of the ink sheet supply roll 17 changes in response to the change in the dimeters of the ink sheet supply roll 17 and the winding roll 18. Consequently, the remaining amount of the ink sheet 14 can be obtained by detecting this change with the aid of a photointerrupter 62. |
