<p>PURPOSE:To rationalize power charge and improve unit requirement of an electrode and refractories by disposing light sensers directed toward the inside of a furnace in a furnace cover at a proper interval, and detecting radiated light from molten pool by means of the light sensers. CONSTITUTION:Molten pool 2 changed from a scrap is stored down, and radiated light is produced from the molten pool 2 as parallel light beams to a furnace cover 5 at the top. Light sensers 7 are provided in the furnace cover 5 at a proper interval, and if an undissolved scrap is not existing over the molten pool 2, the radiated light reaches the light sensers to be detected by the sensers 7. In the meantime, if an undissolved scrap 6 exists stretched like a rack from a furnace shell, the scrap 6 breaks the radiated light to prohibit it from reaching the light sensers 7. By seeing distribution of detection of the radiated light by the light sensers 7, therefore, dissolution condition can be known. Waste consumption of power can thus be prevented, and unit requirement of the power, electrode and refractories can be improved.</p> |
