Corona discharge assembly for electrostatic photocopier - uses capacitive coupling to avoid short circuit or shock hazards

The corona discharge assembly is used to charge a surface inside a photocopier in order to pick up toning material. It consists of a number of pointed electrode pins (1) set in a line along the surface of an insulated tube. In of the tube a high G.v. conductor (3) is surrounded by an insulated tube (4). Under the each hole (7) a pin (1) is inserted through a conductive metal ring (2). The metal rings are separated by narrower insulated rings (5). Each conductive ring forms a capacitor with the high voltage core (3).
