PURPOSE:To prevent crumbling of a refractory product due to slaking by mixing a specified amt. of aragonite type CaCO3 in place of CaO with a refractory product consisting of magnesia carbon. CONSTITUTION:A refractory compsn. is prepd. by mixing 100 pts.wt. mixture of raw materials for the refractory product consisting of 30-99wt.% magnesian raw material and 70-1% carbonaceous raw material, with 0.5-20 pts.wt. aragonite type CaCO3. Aragonite type CaCO3 causes no crumbling of a refractory product due to slaking unlike CaO. If the content of the aragonite type CaCO3 to be mixed is <0.5 pts.wt., only insufficient effect in the improvement of resistance to slag is obtd. If it exceeds 20 pts.wt., crack generation may cause in the refractory product because absorption of stress generated by the expansion volume in the stage of phase transition from aragonite to calcite is impossible. |
