Device for prior moistening of ground coffee, which moistening ensures the subsequent passage of the water through the entire mass of coffee, which equates to a maximum utilisation and maximum aroma in return for one measure of coffee. Said device consists of a preinfusion side chamber 10 formed in the actual infusion unit, accessed by a water- circulation pipe 11 and containing a hollow piston 12 defining an annular passage 17 for the water, of a capillary nature, towards a pipe 19 which directs the water, mixed with steam, towards the coffee ladle. <IMAGE>
