This mechanism comprises a toothed device combined with an electric gear motor which depends on a system of electrical control signals sent from suitable photocells, microswitches or another, similar detector, which enter into operation, connecting said motor when the aforesaid sleeves have to run along a machine of greater width than that which is to be cleaned with said sleeves close to the maximum or, alternatively, when such a machine is accompanied by static or movable lateral obstacles which would normally prevent said travel. <IMAGE>
