PURPOSE:To obtain a recording material improved in color-forming properties and colored image stability by using a specific compound as an electron donative colorless dye. CONSTITUTION:In a recording material using a phenomenon that a colorless dye comes into contact with an electron accepting compound to produce a color, a compound shown by a formula I is used as the colorless dye. In this manner, the recording material improved in color-forming properties and colored image stability can be obtained. This compound is obtained by causing such a compound shown by a formula II to react with a propyl phenylhalide. This reaction is conducted at a temperature of 120-270 deg.C for 15min.-24hr. in the presence of a base and a catalyst. As the base, the oxide, hydroxide, or carbonate of Na, K, or Mg is used; as the catalyst, copper, copper halide, or copper oxide is used; while as the halide, bromine or iodine is used. |
