It comprises a plurality of strong flexible strips which can be applied radially to the tyre of the wheel, with the ends thereof provided with transverse bolts with end buckles, for coupling thereof by means of chain portions, defining a circumference in the inner part of the tyre on each face of the wheel, said portions being connected by means of helical springs in a radial position with an annular element coinciding with the centre of the wheel, the chain being tensioned by means of a retainer device forming a ratchet with a pawl which allows its loosening. Each flexible strip incorporates, in its mass, metallic elements forming exterior studs. Applicable to vehicle tyres for travelling over snow, ice, mud and sand. <IMAGE>
