Device to prevent transmission of diseases contagious via the oral route by direct contact with containers. It is a disposable accessory, made of metallic and/or elastomer materials, which is fitted to the edge of a container (glass, cup, jug, etc.), adhering thereto by means of the elastic pressure of the material and/or special adhesive, covering the rim and the internal and external surfaces of the container which adjoin the rim. This accessory, by avoiding direct contact of the mouth with the container, prevents contagious diseases, the transmission of which might be caused by this circumstance and vice versa; it protects the containers from possible transmission of infections by infected users. They can be made in different colours and shapes which offer a decorative appearance, as well as serving as a base for other accessories (drinking straws, spoons, etc.). <IMAGE>
