PRODUCTION OF STEPPED CARBON FIBER/CARBON COMPOSITE PLATE-SHAPED BODY

PURPOSE:To obtain the title plate-shaped body having uniform thickness, with reduced warpage, wherein the angle of the corner is controlled to a set value, and without the interlayer stripping and gap at the bent part by forming a specified laminate between the upper and lower dies, and calcining the formed product. CONSTITUTION:A prepreg consisting of carbon fiber and a carbonizable material is laminated along the stepped lower die 1 wherein the convex corners 1a and 1b and concave corners 1c and 1d having specified radii of curvature are formed to obtain a laminate 2. The upper die 3 having the concave corners 3a and 3b and convex corners 3c and 3d respectively corresponding to the convex corners 1a and 1b and concave corners 1c and 1d of the lower die 1 and having the radii of curvature more or less than those of the lower die 1 by the thickness of the plate-shaped body is placed on the laminate 2. The laminate 2 is heated between the lower die 1 and the upper die 3 at 150-200 deg.C and 5-10kg/cm<2> pressure, and formed to obtain a formed product. The product is sintered at 600-3000 deg.C in a nonoxidizing atmosphere to obtain the plate-shaped body.
