<p>PURPOSE:To efficiently use the buffer memory(BM) of a packet by performing the read/write of the packet queue of the BM according to write/readout address information stored in an address information storage means. CONSTITUTION:One packet is read out from a RAM 10 by a readout request 16, and a pointer to the area number of an address pointer queue 23A used in readout is shifted to the next position of the area number of a write address pointer queue 22. As a result, a sending packet decision part 8 can shift the pointer in an accessed packet area in the queue 22 in an arbitrary column. Assuming that a retention packet is increased and a writable area falls short, the decision part 8 shifts a used readout address pointer by which the readout of one packet of another matrix is completed in the write address pointer 22 of an arbitrary packet queue that is the object of the extension of a write area.</p> |
