PURPOSE:To contrive to make the size of the laser part of the titled device smaller by a method wherein the temperature of semiconductor laser beam is controlled by utilizing the temperature characteristics of a photodiode. CONSTITUTION:The laser 1 outputs a laser beam 10 in the reverse direction simultaneously with its intrinsic laser beam 6. The laser beam 6 is detected by a photodiode (PIN) 2 using the laser beam 10 as a monitor beam. The monitor beam is shut out by coating the surface of the element 2, and the element 2 is fixed on a heat sink 9. A constant current is supplied 20 to the element 2, the amount of output fluctuation generated by temperature fluctuation of the element 2 is amplified 21, the thermomodule driver 22 of next stage is driven, and the temperature of the semiconductor laser section is set by the variable resistor VR1 located in the amplifier 21. The thermomodule 7 to be driven 22 can be heated or cooled in accordance with the direction of driving current, and the proper temperature is maintained by controlling the closely contacted surface of the semiconductor laser beam to face in the direction where the initially set temperature will be obtained. According to this constitution, the laser part of the titled controlling device can be made smaller in size, and the cost of production thereof can be reduced, too. |
