The method and appts. are used for electronically controlling ignition in an internal combustion engine, particularly for controlling the optimun ignition time in order to obtain an maximum output of the engine. The equipment includes a device (2) for establishing a maximum reference angle, a device (4) for generating a voltage signal linear to the speed of the engine by using a velocity sensor, a device (6) for generating a voltage signal linear to the load of the engine by using a vacuum transducer, a device (8) for sensing the temperature of inlet air, a device (10) for deciding the optimum ignition time, and a device (11) for deciding a cam angle according to the optimum ignition time.
