A self-defence bottle for action against muggers is a spray bottle (1) using KRETON (RTM) as the propellant gas. The active liquid is a mixt. of glycerine, concentrated alcohol and butyl mercaptan (up to 15 vol%) which leaves an evil smell equal to that emitted by a skunk. An aluminium cap (4) with PTFE seal rings (5) protects the user from leakage. ADVANTAGE - This kind of self-protection is not subject to the strict controls like tear gas due to the toxicity of the latter; it can safely be solid in self-service shops.
